“Abraham Lincoln is America’s greatest president. His museum must be just as great. It must capture the essence of this magnificent, paradoxical, courageous, wise, puzzling and fascinating ‘uncommon common’ man. It must inspire guests with the idea that they share essential qualities with Lincoln, and that they, like Lincoln, are capable of greatness.”
This was the challenge presented to BRC Imagination Arts by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and the State of Illinois in creating this museum. In close collaboration with the client BRC created a captivating and immersive visitor experience where state-of-the-art showmanship is supported by impeccable scholarship.
Since opening, it has the highest cumulative visitation of any presidential museum in the United States. Guest feedback has been overwhelming and positive. The museum has inspired guests — especially younger guests — to “find the Lincoln in themselves.” In so doing, created a place that raises the bar for museum experiences in the 21st-century.
