A National Historic Landmark, Louisiana’s Old State Capitol building in Baton Rouge takes the form of a proud Gothic style castle that stands as an iconic symbol of the resilient and compassionate people of this unique American state. BRC was hired to reinvent the castle’s visitor experience so that guests become participants, rather than passive observers, in its extraordinary political and social history.
Among the highlights is The Legacy of Huey Long, a series of galleries that plunge guests into the controversial political legacy of this famed politician. A lively rally allows guests to experience the power of Long’s oratory. Visitors also investigate Long’s assassination, examine the real evidence, and decide for themselves what may have really happened.
In the haunting and magical The Ghost of the Castle, a one-of-a-kind immersive theatrical presentation, visitors come face to face with the the castle’s history, told by the ghost of Sarah Morgan, an authentic Civil War-era figure who loved the castle, and wrote passionately about it in her book, Sarah Morgan: The Civil War Diary of a Southern Woman.
